A Normal Week in February

I can't tell you how busy February was. Neither can I tell you how good.

This last month I've gotten more used to Starkville and my life here. I have a normal routine for now, and I like it.

My work week starts on Sunday, and I do keep it holy. For now, I'm going to early Mass, then to an inter-denominational church, then to a cowboy church, then to a young adults group. All three of these churches are precious to me.

Mondays kick off with coffee and tea for any of the college-aged girls around. It's hard sometimes to commit to an event so early in the morning, especially after such a full day, but having coffee with the girls has been such a lovely beginning to the rest of the day.

Four days of the week, my teammates and I gather for meetings of prayer, worship, teaching, and checking in with each other. While they were gone in Florida helping with another base, I realized how helpful and stabilizing those meetings are to me.

Tuesdays and Thursdays I get to be part of a local prayer group. I love to be close to God's heart during these times, and to be part of shifting the culture around me through prayer. This group has been dynamic and faithful in prayer!

I love, love, love prophetic art, and encouraging people through something I've created with God. On Wednesdays at my "home church" here, there is a youth group. There are a few kids who usually come, but are too young to be part of the regular activities. I stumbled upon this opportunity to encourage them and teach them art lessons. "It's like herding cats," as my dad would say, but it's rewarding when they hold up their art pieces or show their moms.

I believe that God is allowing me to hold part of His passion for the Catholic Church. My heart's cry for them is that their eyes would open to God's full nature and character, especially how personable He is, and how much He wants to be involved in our every moment. I want them to understand that they can do things with God! Some of the young people hang out on campus every week, and I like to hang out with them on Thursdays, just adding to my day of ministry.

Internationals are ubiquitous on a college campus. The Baptist Student Union hosts International Hour on Thursdays for dinner, with a different theme each week. International Hour is beautiful to me because I have "asked for the nations as my inheritance," and here they are, eating a meal with me!

There's a Bible study with a few of the folks from BSU right after, which I've enjoyed. In Mississippi, the largest demographic of Christians are Baptists, so BSU can be quite the sea of faces. This Bible study helps me to know some of the students more personally.

On Fridays we prayer walk. One of our goals this year is to walk and pray through the entire city. We've made a lot of headway!

And... Saturday is my rest day. My Sabbath, so to speak. Essential time not "doing ministry."

There! Those were things I did week after week in February 2020!

What questions do you have about my routine or things out of my routine?
